summer’s here, winter’s gone.

yeah, you poet, keep up the magnificence.

but summer IS here. the day is beautiful, and it’s time to break out the backpack and the packraft and find some adventure in the lonely valleys up in those epic ranges I’ve abandoned for too long. I’m sorry, winter – you did bad things to me, and I let you get away without a fight. but we’ll make up for it now. As the rivers fill up to wash out the Nazgûl back to Mordor, I’ll be surfing on those waves, high up on the white crests, between the broken stone seams of the earth and wondering, how did I get here again?

and to the mountains, you’re mine.
